Weber Grill Removable Table

There is nothing like grilling on a charcoal grill! You get so much flavor and the perfect cook every time! The weber grill has a cult like following and theres a good reason…it’s simple and lasts forever!

With all that being said there is one flaw to the weber…no where to put your stuff! Sometimes you need to prep, keep seasoning or marinades close or simply pull off what your grilling and it on a plate or tray but you cant! Sure you could build a giant workbench like table to hold your weber or pull out a side table but both those are a second solution to this simple DIY project.

Dimensions:

27in W x 41in L
23.3 inner Circle Diameter

Materials:

  • Plywood (1/2inch)
  • Steel one hole wall clamp (see picture)
  • Stain and sealer for protection

First step:
Measure out your lid on some 1/2inch plywood, inner circle should be around 23.5inches

After you have cut out your circle, do some measure by placing it over the base of your grill, you will want about 1/2 to an 3/4 extra space because of the pipe clamps. I attached 4 pipe clamps, this is what supports the table, the more you put the more support. You will want to install the clamps underneath the table, see the image below.

This picture is UPSIDE DOWN, when flipped over the hook with grab the rim of the weber grill.

I added some stain and a couple thin layers of sealant. I was nervous at first about that old wood and fire thing…but I’ve been using this every weekend for a year now with no issues and no burn marks anywhere.

The best part…It’s removable! I take on and off every time I use it, this allows me to cover my weber up for storage.

Weber’s are fantastic grills and seem to last forever! If your interested in purchasing one do it! Weber Grill and if you are an avid camper you can even get a Weber Mini which is awesome!

DIY Easy Vintage Wooden Shelves

0

I made three shelves in total. 2 x 6ft & 1 x 4ft but the lengths dont matter and you can make them as long or as short as you would like.

I used 1×4 boards for the backing and the bottom and used a single 1×3 for the front. Now there is pro’s and con’s to the front being a 1×3 board. The pro is that it gives the appearance of a big floating shelve the negative is that it hides a lot of what you are putting in the shelf and to over come this I cut small blocks to place my picture frames on so that it would lift them up and out of the shelf.

Materials:

  • 1×4 boards (Back & Bottom)
  • 1×3 or 1×2 your choice (Front)
  • Glue
  • Nails/Screws

I decided to glue and nail these in place with a nail gun since they would only be holding picture frames and other small decorative peices.

After nailing everything together I decided to lay it all out on the ground to get an idea of how to position it. As you can see with some left over scrap wood I decided to make some very easy candle holders.

Next….staining!

To hang, I simply drilled 3 inch screws into the backs straight into drywall. If things dont line up be safe and use drywall anchors.

How to Make a AC Unit Cover – DIY AC Unit Cover

This is by far one of the easiest things you can build, so if your not very handy this is a great first project. Our AC unit looked old and was covered in rust, it was an eye sore in the yard. With a little wood, some stain and time you can turn that eye sore into something worth looking at!

Dimensions
31 x 31 x 31h

How to Build Dart Board – DIY Vintage Dartboard

0

If you have a garage that you use more than just a garage to park your cars, you need a dart board. It’s one of the quickest and easiest games to install and if you’re like me, you cant just have a plain dart board sitting on the wall. With a little wood and some extra time you can make it look good!

For this dart board I used left over pallet planks.

I built the frame first, then attached the pallet planks.

Frame
2 – 28″ pallet boards 1×4
2 – 31″ pallet boards 1×4

8 – 31″ pallet boards (pallets come in all different sizes, you might have to change things up to fit your needs on this one.)

Whole dimensions 28 1/2 X 31

2 – 28″ 1×3 or 1×4 boards This will used to secure the pallet boards together

Attach frame using 2 screws per board, pre-drilling recommend to avoid splitting.

Attach frame to pallet board backing

Drill small holes to hold your darts when your not playing.

Rigged up a light system….

Vintage Wooden Stair Gate – DIY Stair Gate

1

This gate wasn’t built for looks even though it ended up looking awesome, it was built to block out my German Shepherd puppy! Lets just say that didn’t last long and we ended up just keeping it because it looked so cool.

Full dimensions ( this will be determined by the dimensions of your stairway). These were mine:

36 1/2″ X 31 1/2

1 – 5/8″ Plywood cut to size.

I used this to be used as a backing or support.

Frame
2 – 31 1/2″ 1×4
2 – 29 3/4″ 1×4
2 – 36″ 1×4 for X

Posts
2 – 35″ 2×4 (you can cut height of posts to anything you want)

Top Shelf
1 – 36 1/2″
2 – 1×4 cut into triangles

Next I used some home made stain which consisted of white vinegar and steel wool. I put those in a mason jar and let it sit for a few days. The longer it sits, the darker it becomes!.

This is what it looked like dried with no seal.

I could have left it but I decided to put a protective sealant on it.

This worked for about a couple months before she got big enough to jump it!

Unlimited Portable Power | Emergency Solar Power

Never be without power again!

Having power these days is important, especially for cellphones. If you get lost, if you need to take pictures or just need to stay connected to the world while your out traveling or in an emergency situation you will need phone with power. Thankfully technology has reached a point where we can harness the power of the sun in the palms of our hands! Solar power is nothing new, but portable solar power is truly remarkable. Below I have put together a simple, inexpensive combo of portable power equipment that is perfect for keeping in the car, a survival kit or just your everyday backpacking and camping trip.

Portable solar panels really work! The first time I tested this I thought it was going to be a gimmick and a complete waste of money, I was wrong. It almost feels like magic, when you lay a portable solar panel in the sun and see your phone light up, its amazing. One downside is wasting that energy. You cant keep your phone plugged in 24/7 so that is why having a battery power bank to store that energy is the perfect addition to the solar panel. The 2 items work together perfectly and allow you to quickly store free energy which you can then use for any phone or tablet device.

DIY Wall Mounted Bottle Opener – Easy!!

0

This is a very easy DIY project for you guys. This wall mounted bottle opener is the perfect project for any beginner and something even the kids can help out with, it also makes a perfect gift.

For this project I used a single ceder fence plank. Its an awesome, inexpensive piece of wood that you can pick up from home depot or lowes for usually under $3 but any 1×6 plank of wood will do.

What you will need:

Wood Cuts:

  • 3 – 4″ pieces (sides)
  • 1 – 6″ piece (bottom)
  • 1 – 21″ piece (back)

You can make these cuts with a hand saw or to speed things up a miter saw if you have one.

Next I did a pre-test assemble to make sure everything fit.

I then took it apart and applied a dark walnut stain

Next I applied a little wood glue, assembled using clamps and put a couple nails in with a nail gun and let it sit for at least 30-60 mins for the glue to dry.

I’ve made a bunch of these and the finish project always comes out so cool looking. Get creative, paint or stain to your style!

AirMeasure – Demo of measuring with an iphone using ARKit

0

Say what you want but this is clever! Is it a 100% accurate? probably not but its a start and it looks like fun! The people over at Laan Labs have produced a very fun and exciting Augmented Reality App using apples new ARKit. I’m constantly building, design and fixing things and I always need a tape measure and never have one on me. I do what everyone does…walk it out, sure its not perfect but gives me a rough idea of distance in feet. AirMeasure is clearly going to make that a thing of the past, my children I can almost guarantee you will never pace something out when they grow up because of technology like this.

What is Air Measure™?

Air Measure™ turns your phone into a ruler you can use anytime, anywhere. Just point your phone and click a point to measure almost anything. The app uses the power of Augmented Reality to measure the distance between points in 3D space. So you can measure things like furniture, doors, plates, desks, carpets, paintings, chairs, etc etc etc.
